The technical upgrade of M3 13.4
Important information for those running Infor M3 version 13.4 on-premises
Infor has announced several changes that impact organizations currently using M3 13.4 on-premises. To help you plan ahead and secure a stable, future-proof operating environment, we summarize below what applies and what it means for you.
The transition from Infor OS to Infor Local Technology Runtime (LTR)
Infor has stated that the on-premises versions of Infor OS / Infor OS Lite will enter Sustaining Maintenance around December 2025. For you, this means that no new features or major enhancements will be delivered. Only critical patches and security fixes will be released, limiting the long-term lifespan of the platform.
As a replacement, Infor is introducing Infor Local Technology Runtime – a more modern and long-term supported platform for customers who want to continue running M3 on-premises without moving to Infor M3 CloudSuite. Infor LTR provides an updated technical foundation and better conditions to meet future requirements.
Tech 2.0 – the technical upgrade of M3 13.4 Tech 1.0
Infor is also launching an updated technology stack for M3 13.4, called Tech 2.0.
Tech 2.0 means that the current technology stack must be upgraded, which includes, among other things:
- A new Java version, Java 17, which provides improved response times, optimized memory management, security updates, and long-term support
- Upgrade of LifeCycle Manager
- Upgrade of GRID and all GRID applications
- Updated integration components
This applies specifically to version 13.4. Older M3 versions are not compatible with Tech 2.0. There are also certain products in M3 13.4 Tech 1.0 that are not compatible with Tech 2.0 at all and must be replaced with alternative solutions.
How does this affect you?
As an M3 13.4 on-premises customer, you are facing two parallel needs:
- Transition to a more modern platform for running M3
→ Infor OS is being phased out and replaced by Infor LTR. - Upgrade the technical environment of the M3 installation itself
→ Tech 2.0 is required for your solution to remain compatible and supported.
This means that planning should begin well in advance to avoid ending up on an outdated technical platform without support or updates.
